October 17 [2018]
We had a visit from Alister Benn and we both took a little walk around the quarry. I think Alister was quite surprised at how nice it was considering it’s an industrial wasteland really.

October 16 [2018]
A return to the 365 after a long hiatus caused by lack of my main camera, an addiction to climbing, rain and green. This morning the light just begged to be photographed, even if it was just outside my bedroom window.

February 19
On a wonderful day with a matching dewpoint/temperature causing a classic temperature inversion, I wandered over to the Isles of Glencoe to take a photograph of Eilean Munde with mist behind it. Just at the last moment, the sun broke through the mist. Heavenly!

February 17
A little wander near the Glencoe visitor centre revealed a nice stretch of river where it widens and washes through a variety of geologically interesting pebbles..

February 10
One from four days ago along the river Coe, looking back toward the Aonach Eagach ridge.
-
February 9
Still down south in front of a coal fire and hiding from the English weather so here’s a nice photograph of the A82 just by some underwater caving spots (or otherwise known as ‘potholes’ to the locals)
-
February 8
We’re down south in the mostly un-photographic enclave of Newark on Trent and so I’m posting a photograph made a few days ago. This one is from the Supermoon day while driving over to Kinlochleven
-
February 7
Not Lochaber but we’re travelling down south so a photograph from the banks of Loch Lomond while we swap drivers.
-
February 6
A walk down the Coe near the Clachaig to check out sunset light. Some nice ‘borrowed’ light from the top of the Aonach Eagach before sunset.
-
-
February 4
Very still with only a few clouds in the sky meant near perfect reflections so a quick trip to Torren lochan and a photograph of the sunset over Ardgour on the way back.
-
-
February 2
Second day of a winter skills course with Alex Nail and Richard Pyne saw us climbing Sgorr nam Fiannaidh (the start of the Aonach Eagach ridge just opposite the pap of Glencoe).
-
February 1
Spent the day on Buachaille Etive Beag practising some winter skills via Rich Pyne and organised by Alex Nail. A blustery day at times with 80mp gusts but a fabulous experience!
-
January 30
A very rainy day and I didn’t manage to get out so took a photo whilst shopping at Coop
-
January 29
Went for a walk up to Coire an Lochain at the back of Kinlochleven and we had some ‘blustery’ conditions. Taken on an iPhone because I’m an idiot and forgot my memory card for the big camera.
-
-
January 27
Very windy day spent drinking coffee and having a natter with the visitor down at the Isles of Glencoe. Forgot to take a camera so had a wander around the garden instead.

January 24
A day of rain and the snow is melting even faster. Most of the day spent in but a glimpse of light at sunset had me driving over to see friends in Onich and take photograph from ‘their’ beach. On the way back I took a couple of pictures to show the level of snow…
-
January 23
More snow melted today and I spent a half hour down at the jetty taking photographs of the swimmers (including my wife!) but while they were out of view I wandered over to the old slate dressing sheds. Definitely some compositions here given the right conditions!
-
January 22
All the snow is melting fast but that’s left a lot still in the gullys and all of a sudden Glencoe looks like Iceland!
-
January 21
The great winter weather finally broke and so I took it easy and just went for a quick walk around the Lochan
-
January 20
A fantastic trip out to Glen Nevis with Scott Robertson. One of the best days of the year and Rannoch Moor well avoided (6 mile tailbacks at the ski centre)
-
January 19
This was after walking about 400m into the snow (harder than it sounds) and just as I was stopping and putting my pack down I saw a lek of grouse settle in the snow just in front of my planned composition. A few moments later, the light did this…
-
January 18
What started off as a ‘no light’ day where I wandered Rannoch Moor looking for snowy compositions and was back in the house by 10:30 ended up with a gorgeous blast of light at about 4pm for which I had just enough time to cross the Ballachulish bridge and to get to the other side…
-
January 16
Our first blast of proper snow for the winter saw me heading off to Rannoch Moor. Roads were snowy but new winter tyres made everything a doddle although I was a little late arriving. Like many mornings, the light at Rannoch Moor rises to a peak just after dawn and then things go downhill as…
-
January 15
Wandering up and down the river Coe I found a nice stand of birch and some rocks with an aspect on the Aonach Eagach
-
January 1
A stunning start to the New Year and all from a quick half hour trip across Loch Leven at sunset
